ALMA functions as an organization, it is made of the National Chapter mainly in LA, and then many other chapters formed in different States. All chapters operate and function under the same national ALMA By-Laws.
The national constitution requires each chapter to have a President, Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer. It is a good idea to have the chapter advisor serve as Secretary-Treasurer to insure continuity in all chapter activities and record-keeping. The President and Vice-President should be active ALMA members who show the leadership, energy, and dedication to ALMA necessary to keep their active in their society. They will be responsible for organizing meetings, recruiting new members, delegating responsibility for special activities of the chapter, and seeing to the election or appointment of their successors.
